Nebraska produces the most popped corn in America – a title it has held since 1977. The state produces more than 25% of the nation’s popcorn. 2. Then, in 1949, the snack was temporarily banned from movie theatres for being too loud and crunchy. 5. There’s a day for everything and popcorn is no exception! Meanwhile, also in 2014, Taylor Dodson from Waco in Texas is said to have broken the record for eating the most popcorn while twerking upside down. According to the website, she managed to eat 18 pieces of popped corn while attempting to defy gravity. But the far more impressive World Popcorn Eating crown is held by Las Vegas resident and speed-eating champion Matt Stonie, who ate more than 28 24-ounce boxes in one eight-minute sitting in 2021.* And when it comes to drama, it doesn’t get more theatrical than this developed in collaboration with Sephra’s very own managing director and inventor David Archer. Popcorn Rocky Road

There’s even a every year in June! It’s typically served as an ice cream in the USA, but the textured treat also works great as a no-bake dessert served slice by slice. Here, we put a corny spin on a classic Rocky Road which is traditionally made from , nuts and chocolate. It's one of our favorite popcorn recipes!
You will need:
  • or equivalent
  • (preferably dark)
  • Small marshmallows
  • Popcorn of your choice
  • Nuts – optional, although peanuts, hazelnuts and pistachios work well
  • Honey or golden syrup
  • Butter
To make:
  1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a pan of boiling water
  2. Add the butter and honey and mix well
  3. Stir in the dry ingredients and mix until they are well coated with chocolate
  4. Pour into a tin or baking tray and leave to chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  5. Remove and cut into portion-sized slices
  6. Enjoy!
Tip: This is a great way to use up leftover biscuits, nuts, and other ingredients. Exact quantities don’t matter. You can mix it up however you like or just use whatever you have. Why not get creative and make your own version? You could add chewy sweets, glace cherries, cranberries, raisins, coconut, or whatever you fancy!

To make:
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a brownie tray
  2. Stir all the ingredients together and spread evenly over the tin
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the tray bake is lightly browned
  4. Once cooled, cut into squares and devour!
Of course, popcorn is also a popular topping for desserts such as cheesecake, syllabub, cupcakes, ice cream and more. But people have also been known to use it to top savory creations. Soup, salads and mac and cheese are all worthy dishes for replacing croutons or crumb with salty popcorn. Popcorn Scrambled Eggs

  1. Whisk the eggs and add the butter to the pan to melt
  2. Once the butter is foaming, combine the popcorn with the whisked eggs – just enough to coat without making the popcorn soggy
  3. Then add to the pan and scramble to your desired consistency
  4. Season with salt and pepper and garnish however you like (cheese, chives, spring onion and chilli are all great toppings)
